Shenseea, Tarrus Riley’s ‘Lighter’ Hits 100 Million Milestone On YouTube

The music video for Shenseea and Tarrus Riley‘s collaborative hit Lighter has surpassed 100 million views on YouTube. This is Shenseea’s first song to reach that milestone on the platform and she celebrated the moment in a TikTok video shared today (April 22).

Tarrus Riley, on the other hand, is no stranger to the 100 million club, having previously achieved that feat with his solo track She’s Royal (112 million views) and his guest spot on Major Lazer and Ellie Goulding’s Powerful (144 million views).

Produced by Rvssian, Lighter was first released in August 2020 as track number seven on Riley’s album Healing. However, the song was removed from the album and later released as a single in October 2020, this time with Shenseea as the lead artist.

In an Instagram Live session last year, Shenseea admitted that Lighter far exceeded her expectations. “I did not know Lighter was gonna hit,” she said. “I was like, ‘I really like the song, I think it’s dope,’ but to hit like it did? I did not see that coming.”

Xtreme Arts had produced the music video for Lighter, which was uploaded in September 2020.

The visuals open with both artists cruising along a scenic Jamaican road in a convertible. Shenseea’s look features a red bandana tied in her hair, while Tarrus complemented her style with a red hat and a black bandana peeking out from underneath.

The Just The Way You Are singer also shined in his solo shots, particularly a scene where he’s clad in a classic all-white ensemble, showcasing his physique. Shenseea also offered a contrasting yet equally stylish look in a blue crocheted one-piece swimsuit, her blue hair cascading down her shoulders.

Her other most-viewed videos on YouTube include Blessed (67 million views), Rebel (54 million views), and Loodi featuring Vybz Kartel (44 million views).

Hit & Run with Masicka, released in January this year, is already tracking well with 36 million views.
