Bob Marley & The Wailers’ hit song Satisfy My Soul is now certified Silver in the United Kingdom.

According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the song was issued a Brit Certified Silver Award on Friday (May 3) after it surpassed 200,000 units in the UK, as measured by The Official Charts Company.

The song features a relaxed, smooth rhythm typical of Marley’s later works, and reflects the theme of finding peace and satisfaction in one’s life and relationships.

It was first recorded in 1968 as Don’t Rock My Boat, and then again in 1970 for Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. In 1977, the song was re-recorded at Island Studios, London, and then released as a single for the Kaya (1978) album.

It was later included on the greatest hits compilation, Legend: The Best Of Bob Marley & The Wailers.

Satisfy My Soul spent ten weeks on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at No. 21.

The song’s official music video, released in 2019, was directed by Brian Kazez, shot by Pantera, and produced by Propaganda Films. It depicted what it means to “feel alright” in Jamaica, according to a release, and has received over 13 million views on YouTube so far.

Marley’s most commercially successful singles in the UK are Three Little Birds (1977) and Could You Be Loved (1980), both of which are currently certified 2X Platinum for selling over 1.2 million units each.

Five other tracks by the Reggae band have reached Platinum in the country, each selling over 600,000 units: No Woman, No Cry (1974), Jamming (1977), One Love (1977), Is This Love (1978), and Buffalo Solider (1983).

Waiting In Vain and Redemption Song are currently certified Gold (400,000 units), while Get Up Stand Up, I Shot The Sheriff, and Stir It Up are certified Silver (200,00 units).
