Richie Stephens Responds To Sexual Assault Allegations
Jamaican singer Richie Stephens has taken to Instagram recently to clear his name of allegations of sexual assault charges that were recently brought against him.
Stephens began his career in the early 1990s as part of the Grammy award-winning act Soul II Soul and has since gone on to establish his solo career with hits such as “Come Give Me Your Love”, “Live Your Life”, and “World Gone Mad”.
His Instagram post described him being forced to take to social media to address the recent attempt made to smear his reputation. Currently on the Australian leg of his world tour to promote his new album “Jamaican Flava”. Stephens let fans know that there had been accusations posted on social media, alleging him to be involved in sexual assault. To these allegations, he categorically denied them and stated that “the matter had been thoroughly investigated by the authorities, who found no merit in their attempts to smear my good name”

His initial post was then followed up by a subsequent post 3 days later in which he told us that his management team had brought it to his attention that the smear campaign was still ongoing despite his previous posts asking that they cease and desist.
He then goes on to state that legal action will now be taken “We have no desire to harm anyone financially or bring any criminal action pursuant to cyber laws. However, if we are forced to do so we will. This is our final word on the matter.”

There has been much debate about the individual who has been making these allegations against Stephens, but he has categorically refused to identify the name of his accuser. Stephens is receiving a lot of support from fans with messages such as “Who knows better do better….Luv you Rich🔥”
Stephens has focused a lot of his later work on Christian themed music and in 2006 received Jamaican Governor-General’s Achievement Award for contributing to civic, social and recreational projects.
His world tour which began on October the 19th in New York and includes destinations such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and Japan. The tour, which is featuring Masia One from Singapore. This tour is taking reggae and dancehall to locations that don’t often have exposure to this type of music as Stephens himself described when he said “This tour is a career-changing experience for me, as I will be performing in Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and Singapore, cities that very few reggae or dancehall acts get to play. I am getting a chance to introduce the music and culture of Jamaica to people who probably don’t know much, whether we are talking about reggae, dancehall or ska,”.
