Popular dancehall artiste Javaun ‘Masicka’ Fearon has released the fiery new single, Man Fi Di Mission, signaling a public self-proclamation as the new heir to the King of Dancehall throne. The song, which began streaming on YouTube on November 25, 2019, has already garnered over 200,000 views from his fans.

Vybz Kartel appeared to respond to the release of Man Fi Di Mission by re-declaring himself as king in an Instagram post that featured scathing lyrics aimed at anyone coming for his throne.

“Matta weh dem seh, matta weh dem try dem fraid a mi. Adi a di king! any other king a burger king”.  Clearly, Kartel does not feel he has any worthy opponents for the crown.

Man Fi Di Mission, produced by and released under Genahsyde / 1syde Records, endorses Masicka as the suitable successor to the King of Dancehall given his acquired musical accolades, superior lyrical talent and the overall growth of his Dancehall career. Masicka has certainly gained major success throughout his early career including highly rated tracks such as Infared which featured Kartel, that has racked up over 11 million views on YouTube; and other popular hits like They Don’t Know, Top Form and Top Striker.

Of course, Masicka isn’t the only artiste vying for the dancehall crown.

Pioneers like Beenie Man and Aidonia, and younger artistes such as Rygin King, have publicly declared themselves “King of Dancehall”, both through music and in interviews. However, in the dancehall arena, it is fans who determine this prestigious title, which has remained with Vybz Kartel despite his incarceration.

Although the new track has Masicka’s fans speculating about his recent beef with fellow dancehall entertainer Aidonia, most have accepted and appreciated it as another top-notch addition to his high-quality lyrical repertoire. The disparity between the artistes stems from Aidonia’s own declaration as leader in one of his latest tracks, Aircraft .

The Genaysyde artiste still leaves no doubt that his unwavering determination will propel his continued rise in dancehall.
