Fame FM’s DJ Venom And Utech Student Victims Of Fatal Motorcycle Crash
The media fraternity and members of the RJR media group are mourning the loss of well-known Fame FM disc jockey, Raymond “DJ Venom” Peart. Peart was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident that claimed both his and the life of a student from the University of Technology, 20-year-old Abigail Rowe.
According to reports, around 9 PM, Peart was riding a motorcycle along Spanish Town Road in St. Catherine on Monday night when he collided with Rowe who was attempting to cross the bypass. Eyewitness say, Peart was thrown from the motorcycle, following which both he and Rowe, who was seriously injured, were transported to the hospital. However, they succumbed to their injuries.
Since the tragic incident, members of the RJR/Gleaner family, under which Fame FM functions, have been expressing their grief and extending their condolences to the loved ones of both DJ Venom and Abigail Rowe.
The official Twitter account of TVJ’s Smile Jamaica, which is also a leg of the RJR media group released a statement: “Condolences to the family and friends of UTech student, Abigail Rowe, who also died in the tragic accident involving DJ Venom.”
A co-worker with whom DJ Venom was close, DJ Narity, found it hard to contain his emotions as he tweeted, “This cyaa real. I refuse to believe this. Me n u just a start run joke an reason. God knows best.”
Since the start of 2019, 382 people have lost their lives as a result of traffic accidents. The Road Safety Unit continues to urge motorists and pedestrians to take extreme caution when using the roadways to avoid further fatalities.
