Mr. Vegas Wants Lady Saw To Give Up Religion And Return As The Dancehall Queen
Mr. Vegas is once again stirring up the pot up in dancehall. This time the ‘Heads High’ singer took a jab at his long-time friend Lady Saw. Mr. Vegas, whose real name is Clifford Smith, posted a picture of the former dancehall queen and Grammy Award–winning artist on Instagram and captioned it: “I am gonna tell my kids that this is the Dancehall Queen for life.”
He was apparently responding to Lady Saw’s (Marion Hall) shade from an interview on Onstage on Saturday night where she called Mr. Vegas a detractor because he has constantly called for her to return to dancehall and make more money than she currently is as an Evangelist.
Both singers had shied away from dancehall and turned towards Gospel.
In January of this year, however Mr. Vegas started his bid to have Lady Saw reclaim her title when he posted on Instagram: “THE QUEEN’S chair is vacant. I hope one day she will wake up to the truth and claim back her crown! Lawd Jesus, mi dead now!”
This time he made a more impassioned plea when he posted: “Mi post this 3 hours ago and 2 hours after, the QUEEN was Onstage shading me…(LOL). I did not even know the QUEEN was gonna be on Onstage this week, but this is just proof that LOVE always conquer shade. Religion has blinded you Goddess, you can’t see the love we who have discovered the truth have for you. We are just trying to lift you outta the spell of indoctrination. Love you Queen Lady Saw,”
Lady Saw has no intentions of returning to dancehall to take up her crown as she clearly stated on the show that she still has lot of money and that “mi still a wear mi high end shoes caw mi serve a high end God”.
““When yuh tek on Christ I believe you tek on Satan an him entourage. So di battles are gonna come…Vegas was talking, I think it was because he said he was gonna serve the Lord and him couldn’t manage,” Hall said as she and Williams burst out into laughter.
“Suh him a look company fi draw mi out. But, no Devil inna hell caa draw mi out. I am persuaded dat needa dead, nor life nor angel nor principality, nor nuh devil inna hell. Mi duh enough sin inna life and God already wash mi… Nuh pay dem no mine yah; dem waa attention,” she said. “Right now Satan a gi bare trouble enuh. Mi a seh: ‘how him teck special interest inna mi suh?”
It’s not the first nor will it be the last time Mr. Vegas has courted controversy as earlier this year he also revealed his admiration for Ugandan musician, Bobi Wine and declared him a ‘King on earth’. He has also said that Kanye West should give up all the possessions he earned when he was still singing traditional rap music, if he is serious about being a Christian.
