A feud has broken out between one of Ghana’s most popular dancehall artistes Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr. better known as Shatta Wale and one Ghana’s leading multimedia journalists known as MzGee (Gloria Akpene Acquah).

Reports indicate that MzGee used her TV/3FM’s platform to have an open discussion on whether or not Wale has been nominated for a Grammy. She also interviewed Fuse ODG and Ameyaw Debrah on the show. Wale’s comments came after she gave her opinion on Shatta Wale’s claim of being nominated for Beyonce’s Lion King album. The album was nominated for the 62nd Grammy Awards scheduled for January 26, 2020, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Some fans believe he has not been given the Grammy nod because his song ‘Already’ which was featured on the album has not been individually nominated. In November Wale said he was extremely thankful for the nomination and that his patience in the industry had paid off.

He tweeted: “At long last my name has entered #GRAMMYs, thanks to the Beehive team!!!! Patience is truly the key!!! Pah pah pah pah.” His song has been very well received and was even voted as the number one song on the album, when Billboard made a poll on their website querying which song on the Lion King was the best.

Wale went on Youtube to express his anger at the comments made by MzGee and questioned why he should not be considered a Grammy nominee since he contributed significantly to the lyrics in the song.

He added that she was the disgrace.

In the video he does not hold back and expresses his anger over the comments. He also accused her of having an agenda and targeting him.  Watch it below.

He also questioned why there was no unity in Ghana and why they weren’t supporting each other. A visibly upset Wale shouts throughout much of the video and calls on the media to support artistes instead of trying to tear them down.

Wale said that he and other artistes suffer for the craft and receive no support and little money for their efforts. He said that his detractors were taking nonsense and would suffer because of their ignorance. Wale has been singing since 2004 and has a plethora of hits. ‘Already’ has gained him recognition around the world in the dancehall genre.

MzGee hasn’t offered a comment on the issue as yet.
