Guyanese DJ Garwin Under Fire From Rygin King And D’Angel Over Fraud Claims
Looks like DJ Garwin’s big show over the weekend in Guyana has ended with some controversy following the non performance of three of the four Jamaican dancehall artistes promised to appear even though they arrived in the country.
For some time now, the DJ had been promoting his mega combo event; a stage show ‘Dancehall Exclusive’, new company launch (FBS Entertainment) and birthday bash in one.
With much anticipation, Guyanese fans were awaiting the performances of renowned Jamaican talents that the DJ advertised would be performing at his show. Names like, Govona, Rygin King, D’Angel and Ishawna were stirring an exciting buzz around Georgetown and escalating ticket sales at the respective vendors.
The day of the event November 30th, grew with more excitement as the Promoter DJ posted on his Instrgram page (@djgarwin_official), a video snippet showing the arrival of Govona himself, wheeling his luggage at the Cheddie Jagan International Airport and the caption “Govona touch down in guyana”.
Shortly after, other posts popped up with similar confirmative captions, “Rygin king in guyana”, “Ishawna in guyana” and “D angel in guyana” and the photos of himself posing with the artistes to prove it.
All set and ready for the show, but who would have thought some of these artistes were going to be a no-show. In fact, three of the four Jamaican headliners did not perform.
The only act to grace the stage was Govana, who delivered an excellent performance and left his fans in complete awe.
After his performance, Govana posted: “THIS IS ALL MI WANT DO .. SING BIG SONGS, PACK STADIUMS AND PARKS AND ENJOY THESE SONGS WID MY FANS … GUYANA GIVE THANX #HUMANSANDMONSTERS 10.1.20”

Rygin King took to social media the next day to apologise for his absence and ensured his Guyanese fanbase that such matters were not in his control. D’Angel also made a public statement expressing the same. The two informed everyone that while they did make it into the country, they were not picked up at their hotels the night they were to perform.
In the short video on his Instagram page, Rygin King disclosed that the promoters claimed police officers appeared at the gates of the event to shut down the show. He expressed his disbelief in such claims and insinuated that the promoters plotted a scheme to pocket the proceeds with no intention of having himself and the other artistes perform. He went on to say the venue was at full capacity and urged those who attended to seek refunds of their tickets, due to the fact that the promoters committed such a fraudulent act.

D’Angel for her part did not hold back and directly accused DJ Garwin and FBS Entertainment of being scammers in a video posted to her own Instagram page.

Today in an interview on a VYBZ FM radio show, DJ Garwin was given the platform to explain himself and as such wasted no time in delving into what transpired. Quickly exposing the artistes for their ‘not so clean’ personas, saying they made quite a few unreasonable requests. “Some of these artistes are not real, they are fake”, “you put in so much investment to bring them to Guyana, spend so much money fi bring them, then when you bring them, they give you all kind of attitude, first thing they want Hummer, they want this, they want that. Weh we go find dem ting from”? he said.
Despite his feelings about the matter, DJ Garmin said he still tried to meet their demands but by no means was able to fulfill them. He made it known however that Govona was the most accommodating, jumping into a taxi when he needed to and ultimately finding his way to the show that night.
He said that arrangements had been made by his team to pick up and bring the other artistes to the show, but they were apparently late to do so. It was only when their agents arrived at the venue without the stars that he, DJ Garwin got wind of the situation and established that they were not going to perform.
In the aftermath, he disclosed, and even played proof of a conversation with D Angel’s agent on his phone (on the air), confirming that D Angel was fully compensated as well as Govona, however, Rigin King and Ishawna were only paid the initial advancements of half their salaries.
DJ Garwin went on further to say that he was tipped-off by sources, informing him that some powerful people were behind the failure of his show. These people paid the artistes roughly 2000 to 3500 US for them not to perform.
The future of DJ Garwin and FBS Entertainment could be looking up, in the interview today the DJ said things are good with Rygin King at this point and there are plans for the artist to revisit Guyana soon and also that he will be making every effort to restore his brand — even if a free concert is in order.
