The Ruling On Vybz Kartel’s Appeal Case Is Imminent, Court Says
It seems the wait is almost over for Vybz Kartel and his fans after the Jamaican Court of Appeal revealed that its ruling on the case is at an advanced stage.
In a letter dated December 2nd, the registrar of the Court of Appeal addressed the attorney for Kartel, Mr. Tavares Finson and informed him that the judgement is “at an advanced stage of preparation”. The registrar further told Finson that all parties will be advised as soon as the judgement “is ready and the court has set a delivery date”.
The court’s letter, which was circulating today on social media, was sent in response to another letter sent by Mr. Finson who had inquired about the almost 18 month delay in the ruling being handed down.
Vybz Kartel and three other men, Shawn Storm, Kahira Jones and Andre St John were found guilty in 2014 of the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams in 2011.
In late November, Kartel and his co-accused were anticipating that the appeal verdict would be revealed before the end of year and they were hopeful they would be home for the Christmas holidays. Kartel’s representative, Bert Samuels had said, “It is now one year and six months since the court reserved, so my client anxiety is heightening. He is in high spirits and is hoping that he will not have to spend Christmas where he is, but will be able to rejoin his family.”
