The Raw Vershon Comes Out In “Want This”: Watch
Dancehall artiste and singjay, Vershon, shares in a common dancehall tradition with his raw, new single, Want This. Typically known for producing conscious music, the artiste has debuted his raunchy, lyrical alter ego. Watch the new video below.
Want This, produced by Costa Rican Reggae and dancehall DJ and producer DJ Kendo, is a three-minute Reggaeton-fused dancehall track promising top notch sexual and sensual pleasure – a classic motif in dancehall. Vershon joins artistes like I-Octane and Konshens whose dancehall careers also started with music that lamented and protested socioeconomic issues and praised spiritual enlightenment, and then transitioned into hardcore dancehall hits decorated with sexual innuendos and tropes.
Kemar ‘Vershon’ Brown also taps into the growing Latin American Reggae/Dancehall market in collaborating with DJ Kendo to produce the sexy dance single. With over 95,000 collective views for his new release’s official and animated videos uploaded to YouTube earlier this month, the popular 28-year old artiste has gained a significant amount of new fans in Latin America.
Dancehall artistes have experienced success in Latin American markets recently, like Charly Black’s diamond-certified hit, Gyal Yuh A Party Animal, that was released in 2015 and now has 85 million views on YouTube. Given his fluent pronunciation of Spanish in Want This and the track’s number 3 spot on Spotify’s ‘Costa Rica Viral 50 Playlist’, Vershon may be the next rising dancehall artiste in the region.
The artiste is seemingly ending 2019 more positively as he is now recovering from serious injuries and internal bleeding sustained in a car accident in the United States on Sunday.
