The legendary reggae star – Buju Banton whose real name is Mark Myrie who was freed from federal prison last year December has recently taken his rightful place back on the stage.

However, he did not fail to publicly acknowledge and give thanks to his long time good friend and Rastafarian brother Stephen Marley whom he brought on stage at the recently concluded Welcome to JamRock 2019 Cruise that was held between the 9th -14th December, 2019 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

In an Instagram post by Buju captioned “YES MY FRIEND! 🙏🏿 PRICELESS MOMENTS WITH MY BROTHER @STEPHENMARLEY”, Stephen commented “am very emotional mi affi compose miself”.

Buju exclaimed before bringing his friend on stage that he doesn’t have many friends but true good ones. “A friend ah somebody when the shit hit the fan dem dey dey…”
Through the hardship and turmoils of life that is when one sees who his true friends truly are.

In 2010, Stephen Marley stepped up as a friend and brethren when he placed his Miami mansion as surety for Buju’s USD$300,000 bail. This demonstration of practically putting ones money where ones mouth cemented their friendship that displayed a spiritual yet emotional performance on stage – priceless indeed! This distinctive alliance of sorts could to said to have been evident over a decade as Stephen was featured on Buju’s album in 2004 “Buju and Friends”.

The performance was seen by many of Buju Banton’s fans as a true definition of friendship that was no less of an emotional moment filled with genuine love and respect. The long and what most might conclude to have been an overdue trial saw these two friends sharing a priceless moment in celebration of freedom that moved Buju to happy tears. It may be safe to say this is what true friendship should entail; love, unity, loyalty, brotherhood and the sentiment of family.

After greeting each other, the artists joined in song to the lyrics.

Yes my friend my friend
Man dey pon street again
Yes my friend my friend
Dem set I free again”

After ten years of literal trials and tribulation the official Gargamel is free again doing what he does best. This was the 6th annual cruise of Welcome to JamRock Cruise that saw a cadre of top reggae artists who performed on board the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas.
