NRG Radio as well confirming on Instagram, wrote: “We heard you & Its OFFICIAL the Legend @bujuofficial has ACCEPTED our request & he will now be performing in NAIROBI on the 8th February 2020. @nrgradioke we SURRENDER to you the SUPER FANS. Raised in extremely humble circumstances Buju rose to prominence in the early ’90s. Born in a poor neighborhood called Salt Lane, Buju is a nickname given to chubby children that means breadfruit and was given to him by his mother as a child. Banton is a Jamaican word that refers to someone who is a respected storyteller, and it was adopted by Myrie in tribute to the deejay Burro Banton, whom Buju admired as a child.

His 1992 album dubbed Mr. Mention became the best-selling album in Jamaican history upon its release. He has broken records previously held by Bob Marley and his 2010 album Before the Dawn won Best Reggae album at the 53rd Grammy Awards.

“It is with great displeasure that we announce the postponement of the much awaited Serve Jah concert that was as scheduled to take place this coming 24th Dec, 2019. The new date is now 11th April 2020. The decision has been necessitated by unavailability of the venue due to factors beyond the promoters control.

It should be understood that before advertising the initial event venue, we made necessary inquiries and reservations but the unforeseen prevailing condition has made it hard for both promoter and the KICC management to have the event take place.

The decision to postpone the event rather than changing the venue has been informed by current weather and security situation in Nairobi which we are keen not to subject our fans to.
Those who had purchased advance tickets will be promptly refunded or can still keep them until 11th April 2020. We sincerely and humbly apologize for any inconvenience brought by the postponement. Next year we promise to pull out all the stops in order to to present a memorable live concert with Jah Messenger Luciano!”
