Dancehall/Reggae artiste ‘Agent Sasco’ was given a special birthday present this year when the Jamaican Ministry of National Security recognized him for his work with disenfranchised youth who are part of programmes at the Department of Correctional Services (DCS).

Sasco whose real name is Jeffrey Campbell received a trophy for his dedication to mentoring youth a few days before his birthday on December 22. The award was presented by State Minister for National Security Rudyard Spencer as part the ministry’s flagship mentorship programme, ‘We Transform’, at the ministry’s head office in Kingston.

Spencer praised him for his devotion and revealed that Sasco had been with young men at the Metcalfe Street Juvenile Centre in Kingston for over two years now.

In accepting the award, Sasco thanked the ministry for the opportunity to transform lives.

“I now have a better appreciation for the We Transform programme. I have been inviting friends and colleagues to participate, and most recently, two wards were awarded an opportunity to work with Uppercut [Barbershop and Salon], for which I am grateful,” he said.

Campbell who grew up in Kintyre, St. Andrew began his career back in 1999. He gained the name Assassin for his lyrical skills.

Sasco is known for always trying to be positive as he searches for success and in the mid-2000s, he started an internet based degree in Business Management from the University of Sunderland.

It’s after that he began using the stage name ‘Agent Sasco’ as it has more “Googleability” than ‘Assassin’. In 2011 his song “Talk How Mi Feel” reached number one on the Jamaica Countdown Chart in June. He has also been featured on the song “I’m in It” by American recording artist Kanye West on his 6th solo album, Yeezus.
