Sikka Rymes Believes ‘Bad Mind’ Caused His Shooting, Drops Video For ‘Gaza To Mi Bone’

Up-and-coming dancehall Sikka Rymes is on the mend after he was shot three times in early December and the young artiste released a new music video for his single Gaza to Mi Bone today.  The song was recorded the night before he was shot. Watch it below.

Rymes whose real name is Javian Chambers was hospitalised at the Kingston Public Hospital in a critical condition following the shooting. The entertainer is Vybz Kartel’s right hand man and the self proclaimed Gaza VP.

He shared his experience with Winford Williams on the popular Jamaican television show On Stage. Even though he is able to function he told Williams that he still has to see a medical specialist every week. He also has to take care of the wounds daily and make sure they don’t get infected as he is diabetic.

Rymes is still puzzled by the shooting because he said he is fair with everyone who asks for his help and shared his frustration at being shot just as his career was looking to take off.

“Is not like me never bad mind nobody,” he said. Rymes added that he had been working tirelessly in the industry and kept promoting other people’s music before he decided to sing his own tunes.

He once again described the events of the night that he was shot, explaining that he left a stage show on his bike, when a car speeded up and came alongside him. He didn’t stop but kept riding. The first shot hit his hand, the second one went through his chest and the last one hit his foot.

He turned over on the bike and sent into the car. Rymes was able to still get up and run to a car driven by his associates. They kept him awake on the way to the hospital and he said that he doesn’t remember much about the ride but he does remember feeling thirsty.

When he arrived at the hospital he didn’t want anyone to touch him because he was in excruciating pain. He said his suit had to be cut off. He remembers the entire ordeal and was not unconscious at any point. He remembers the incident so well that he even recalls signing the paperwork for surgery before going under.

When he awoke he said the only thing on his mind was his family because he is the sole breadwinner. He said he also thought about Vybz Kartel because he handles a lot of the artiste’s business. Rymes revealed that he hasn’t heard anything from Kartel since the shooting.

He believes that the shooting was because of jealousy.

“Bad mind have a lot to with it. Same people you grow up with and say yeah, they nah want see you reach nowhere in life.”

Rymes shared how much he tries to help out his community mentioning an event that he hosts where children are given free ice cream and he also brings out new artistes so that they could get some exposure. He also said that he is “not a badman”.

He revealed that he was never interviewed by the police and is not even sure if a case is being pursued which means that his shooters are still out there and could try to come at him again.
