Ajonii: Dancehall’s Latest Upcoming Artiste Readies His First EP
Upcoming dancehall artiste, Ajonii has been navigating the music industry for quite some time, but now has reached a high point in his career with greater support from fans and with the production of an EP.
Hailing from Kingston, Jamaica the music maven whose real name is Adjoni Omar Scarlett has released a series of hot jams that have been positively received by the public. After releasing hit songs like Man a Gyallis, Batty Clap featuring Major Mackerel (a veteran Dancehall Dj), the artiste is on a fruitful path.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, he told the DancehallMag that performing is an innate trait that can be traced back to his biological makeup.
“I have been performing from drama class at basic school and sing in church choirs. Music, dancing and entertainment are in my blood literally. I have a cousin that started dancehall dancing and my Mom and Dad loves to sing,” he said joyfully.
To further cement his point, the multi layered 29-yr-old shared that he is a lyrical genius who is capable of blending anything into a musical symphony.
“Dancehall choose me really, and I am actually good at it. Putting lyrics, metaphors and similes together. I use to actually write and perform poetry (Dub),” he boasted.
Climbing the ladder, Ajonii gave us an insight into his major EP that he is currently working on titled “20/20 Vision”. He says the EP is being carefully crafted to ensure a string of mind-blowing hits.
“The EP is being put together as we speak. It’s a seven-song compilation EP called 20/20 Vision. I have a breakfast party to perform at Sunday morning where I will be promoting the EP and the songs on it,” he said.
“It’s a good look. I don’t have a date as yet, but I am looking towards around Easter to finish and release,” he added ecstatically.
Generating a fan base from across the world, the upcoming artiste appreciates the outpouring love and support he has been receiving.
“People message me daily about my music both in Africa and Jamaica. Also, places like Kenya and Uganda I have a fan base,” he said humbly.
