Koffee Says Having Barack And Michelle Obama As Fans Is ‘Super Dope’

Superstar reggae artiste Koffee has revealed what she thinks about having Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama as fans of her music.

At the Grammy Awards on Sunday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, before she won this year’s award for Best Reggae Album, she spoke to reporters and answered a question on the red carpet about how she felt knowing that former President Barack Obama has acknowledged her incredible music.  She answered that the feeling was “super dope”.

President Obama had listed her song ‘Toast’ among his 35 favorite songs of 2019 as well as on his Summer Playlist.

She said: “It was dope. It was super dope and I realised recently also that his wife, Michelle Obama also has my song on her list for working out. So I feel really proud about that.

Koffee also told the interviewer that she was looking forward to working with more rap artistes, following her song W with rap star Gunna. She said she had a “game plan for 2020.”

The 19-year-old revealed that she was excited, nervous and honoured when asked how she felt about being nominated. The short one minute clip posted to YouTube of the exchange has already garnered over 96 000 views and over 300 comments, almost all celebrating the artiste’s history breaking feat.

One fan said: “she’s so humble, i love it. congratulations Koffee,” while another added: “Gratitude is a Must! Humility is a must! Blessings will follow. She always show respect and she gets it right back!!”

Another fan used a quote from young artiste’s song to sum up her feelings: “Blessings fall …Oh yeah! From the first time I heard you sing, I thought, “This girl is going to blow the world away with her vocals and natural talents.  I have lived to see it…and I am not one bit surprised. You will continue to shine brighter, Griot.
