Popcaan Drops New Single ‘Block Traffic’: Listen
Still high off his Vanquish mixtape released just two months ago, dancehal artiste Popcaan is back to dropping new music, with his latest single, ‘Block Traffic’.
With his signature unruly flow, Popcaan covers a range of topics on the new single: women, money and self-defense, all while boasting that he’s still very much a hot topic in Dancehall.
While Popcaan has managed to stay true to Jamaican roots since signing to Drake’s OVO Sound label, the deejay still lets fans know that he is also heavily inspired by Hip-Hop. “African gyal wah gi we daughter, true me full a Blueprint like Mr. Carter,” he deejays as a nod to Hip-Hop mogul, Jay-Z.
“Me nuh Nick Cannon dawg me nug wil’ out”, he says in another line, taking a hilarious shot at the MTV’s Wild ‘N Out host.
The single, released on February 24, was produced by Sasaine Music Records in collaboration with Unruly Ent., Popcaan’s own label.
Block Traffic is just the first taste of what fans will be getting from Popcaan this year.
Coming off the release of his successful mixtape, Vanquish, which debuted at number two on the Billboard reggae charts, the unruly boss is gearing up to release a new album this year.
His upcoming project will be his first album released on the OVO label. He also confirmed that fans can expect an official Drake and Popcaan collab this year. It seems as if Popcaan is just getting started for a successful 2020.
