International Women’s Day was celebrated on March 8, 2020 and among the numerous celebrations held in honor of women, BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ, Seani B, hosted Jamaican female artistes, Naomi Cowan, Lila Iké, Sevana and Jaz Elise for a Women’s Day Music Session.

The talented ladies performed at Protoje’s Habitat Studios in Kingston where they gave a sizzling rendition of songs on their Rock & Groove Riddim which was released in December last year under the In.Digg.Nation Collective. The video premiered on Sunday, March 8 and has since attracted over 50,000 viewers.   Check it out below.

The ladies were clearly in their element as they vibed to the band’s playing before Paradise Plum singer, Naomi Cowan, dressed in a stylish mauve ensemble, took the lead with her single on the riddim, Peace of MindLila Iké, Sevana and Jaz Elise joined in as backup singers, providing some tight harmonies.

Jaz Elise was next, sporting a laid back green outfit and her signature purple hair. She performed the title track for the riddim, Rock & Groove, serenading listeners with her smooth vocals and amazing runs.

p085mpcx-1 Sevana followed, flowing right in on the beat with her long braids and powerful vocals as she sang “Haul and pull, jus like duppy in a movie, a big bad exclusive, wi mek evil a use wi” – lyrics from her song Haul and Pull.

Last to take the mic was Lila Iké. Known for her hit single Second Chance, Lila delivered a heartfelt performance of her single, Sweet Inspiration. With her trademark afro and a pair of Clarks, Lila showed off her rich singing voice and vibrato, even throwing in a few dance moves.

Viewers also noticed the founder of In.Digg.Nation Collective, and reggae entertainer, Protoje, standing on the sidelines, proudly watching the ladies do their thing.

Just when you thought the fun was all over, Sevana introduced another song, but this time, it wasn’t an original song but Double Trouble by Beres Hammond. The other talented ladies all contributed to the impromptu moment. Lila Iké sang John Holt and Dennis Brown’s Wild Fire, Jaz Elise delivered another Dennis Brown classic, Have You Ever Been In Love and Naomi Cowan performed a tribute with Melody Life by Marcia Griffiths.
