A new song and music video from dancehall artiste Squash, titled Let It Go, is tugging at fans’ heartstrings. The 6ix boss just dropped the emotional new music video today on his VEVO page. Watch it below.
In Let It Go, Squash slows it down, breaks it down and “talks some things” about moments of pain in life and how he looks at them as blessings. These include a broken relationship with someone he loves and close friends who have or intend to betray him.
The track is about lessons learnt and moving on from these situations. “I see pain concealed as blessing, now I’m stronger learn my lesson,” he sings in the powerful chorus.
In the video, Squash finds himself along a lake during a moody sunset and later alone in his bedroom as he ponders life’s pain.
Many fans related to the lyrics of the song and praised Squash for the release which is of more “substance” than his recent singles like Cold Blood, Best Best and Scotch & Soda. “Yes, music with substance, longevity is good to pree in this business and all your haters a say your music is JUST hype and floss but this(and many other songs) show seh you nuh foreign to positive songs and songs about life and the struggles,” one fan said.
The hopeful fan also wishes that Let It Go is just the tip of the iceberg and that Squash’s upcoming album Mr. Whittaker will show his versatility as a dancehall artiste.
Squash has high hopes of winning a Grammy award with that upcoming album. “We have diligently worked on this project for it to be up to Grammy standards,” he said in a recent interview.
