Jamaicans can always depend on dancehall artistes like Ding Dong to send the most important messages in song.

It is customary for artistes to pen their opinion right after a catastrophe, but this time, exercising his right as a concerned citizen, Kemar Christopher Dwaine ‘Ding Dong’ Ottey took to the studios to voice a proactive call to action.  Following his recent release of Yuh Know Di Chap , it seems Ding Dong did not leave the studio before recording his newly released single Inside.

As the dancehall fraternity reels from the nationally imposed measures of isolation, the Good Ting Dem deejay (in partnership with music producer Khalfani Records of Romeich Entertainment, and ShaneCreative at Wikidmediaja) encourages us all to get comfortable and stay inside. In the drive to keep ourselves and family safe in this global pandemic of Covid-19, the Ravers Boss puts a serious but whimsical spin on the ills of self-isolation while himself remains inside.

“I am inside…you should be inside too” is the lullaby type caution from Ding Dong at the beginning of this Sunday afternoon new release.  Armed with Netflix, Megabox, and wife by his side, the Syvah composer gives us a glimpse of how he spends his time “jus a chill inside”. He prepares curried chicken with butter beans to pass the time, the constant need to sanitize himself and his environs is always on his mind.

While inside, the dance DJ continues to work, encouraging us to creating a dance video; uploading his own to TikTok for his fans; then directs them to Romeich Radio where the offerings are available live. Inside stopped short of nothing relatable, even in the hail from Desha Ravers, via text of course, inquiring of her colleague’s whereabouts; Ding Dong hastened to declare his location reminding her that she should be inside as well – absolutely no deviation even if she just got a new car.

Doorbell rings to his alarm, one of his colleagues is trying to find out if his regular party will be held this Friday, as per the norm. He maintains social distancing and responds from behind the window, asserting that, “No, right now mi fraid a people, know how long mi nuh si my vehicle”.

Ding Dong closes his address to all, imploring us to employ social distancing and frequent sanitization – “Yuh naffi cum outta yuh yaad, stay inside!”
