Foota Hype Not Impressed By Jahmiel Vs Chronic Law War
Popular Dancehall selector, Foota Hype, went on a rant on Instagram Live yesterday. His main complaint was that fans keep messaging him asking about clashes.
“Bare people a dm mi bout clash weh a gwaan and which DJ a win. None a dem naah win! Whole a dem a coward! Whole a dem a bait!”, he said. This rant comes in the heat of the lyrical battle between Chronic Law and Jahmiel which saw the exchange of 8 diss tracks from the 6ix and MVP affiliated artistes between April 13th and April 25th, including Teach Dem Again, School Dem, Quaran Kill and Talk Facts.
We can safely deduce that Foota Hype and fans want to see these artistes face off live. Let’s just hope that both Jahmiel and Chronic Law have heard the calls and decide to treat the fans, given that the pandemic ends soon that is.
Foota spoke about the lack of roughness and manliness in the dancehall industry.
“The artiste dem weh a buss now weh say dem a man really look like them have harmone issues like dem a gyal”, the selector said. He stated that nowadays artistes are too emotional and take things too personally. They are afraid to face each other on stage in a clash like the real pioneers of dancehall did.
“Mi tired a dem bl**dcl@@t stay inah studio and throw wud and seh yuh a run place. Unuh fi go pon stage go clash. Yuh cyaa seh us a di best if you naah compete”, Foota said. “Unuh a some b—-!”, he added.
The self-proclaimed ViralKing spoke about artistes including Ninjaman, Super Cat, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man, Mavado, and Vybz Kartel who were never afraid to face off on stage. He stated that this was a vital part of the dancehall culture and helped propel these artistes to stardom and wealth.
He even called for a swap of new artistes: “Dem fi lock up some a dem new DJ yah and let out Ninjaman and let out Kartel”.
“Unuh a mash-up dancehall! Clash a part a di culture bredren”, he said.
Fans of Foota Hype who tuned in to the live IG feed, were definitely in agreement with the selector. They expressed a longing for artistes to have lyrical face-offs to display their talents.
The controversial selector, whose real name is Oneil Ricardo Thomas, is known for speaking his mind. On April 10, news came that Foota was released from an immigration detention facility in the United States where he had been held since December 2019. Since his release he has returned to his irreverent social media style that includes IG live parties.
