Dancehall artiste Mavado isn’t standing down in his new feud against Vybz Kartel. The singer has escalated the beef after the incarcerated deejay posted an old photo of their sons on his Instagram a few days ago.

Kartel has denied that he was trying to intimidate Mavado’s son Dantay Brooks. He said Mavado’s overreaction to the photo and another post which mentioned the 18-year-old is proof that his mind is corrupt. However, Kartel’s posts were clearly intended as a karmic warning to rival artistes about using the realities of prison as an insult in their lyrics. And Mavado certainly saw it that way when he sent a strongly worded Instagram DM to the Worl’ Boss demanding that his son be left out of Kartel’s feud with the MVP, an alliance between Mavado, Jahmiel and Alkaline.

In an Instagram Story post Saturday night (April 25), Mavado clapped back at Kartel for saying he is a weaker man than his son, Dantay who is currently on remand for a murder charge in Jamaica. “Well if my little son tougher than me I’m 1billion times sure your not”, he wrote.

The 38-year-old singer then recounted a story to prove just that. He recalled a scared Vybz Kartel running and jumping through the window of a moving car in order to get away after his friend was slapped down by the On The Rock singer.

“Remember a police MR McKenzie van you use to drive thru my community and hide in the back seat and MR McKenzie will tell me to leave you because your really scared and I will tell him I’m not troubling you, the last time I saw you it was a real running action with you when you friend got box down and you run and jump thru a moving car window. don’t ever try to play tough with me out of all person.”

Veteran dancehall selector Ricky Trooper corroborated some parts of this story in an interview with DJ Wiz in early April.

Mavado then seems to address Kartel’s recent beef with rising dancehall star Intence. “Don’t you ever say the word corrupt again because it makes no sense, just take a look at who’s trying to be king and will do anything including fighting the little youths dem if not saying Gaza.. I build youths and let them live and feed them family”, he said.

In mid April, Intence’s single Tears Dem Dry held onto the No. 1 Trending spot on YouTube’s Popular In Jamaica channel for over 9 hours after Kartel and TeeJay’s single Up Top Gaza was released. Kartel, 44, questioned how he could be beaten out for number one by a youngster and publicly accused Intence of buying YouTube likes in order to be trending. This was followed by more shade and a direct diss track from GAZA ‘VP’ Sikka Rymes.  Intence has refused to respond to the diss track and has denied buying views.

The Gully Gad then calls Kartel a “Dancehall Clown” and makes it clear that his warning to the MVP about its recent prison diss tracks has fallen flat.

“Just leave my son name out your p—- mouth and always remember 10 years in jail don’t make you bad. I have friends in jail house so we will never try style no youth from jail but will style you any time because you a p—- and I don’t really have the time to chat chat that’s not my style and the world knows it by now you is a Dancehall clown maybe you will be a man ine day because your little fans don’t know you is a b—- @vybzkartel”, he wrote.

It looks like the Kartel v. Mavado beef is far from over.
