Dancehall Producer Turned Artiste T’Jean Is Recovering After Health Scare
Producer turned artist T’Jean Bennett is recovering in his St. Andrew home after being released from the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). The 30 year old singer suffers from aplastic anaemia, a disease which causes the body to fail to produce blood cells in sufficient numbers. Bennett was admitted on Monday to undergo a blood transfusion.
Father Mickey Bennett on Tuesday appealed to social media for blood donations and says he is pleased with the results. T’Jean is on a special medication called Soliris which missed a connecting flight because of the restrictions due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Had he not been on that medication, he would have to receive blood twice per at the hospital.
Bennett says “Apart from my son, there are several young people who have the same problem that he has, so we appreciate it, on behalf of them… At least, there is some blood in the system for everybody,”
In a plea for blood the young producer’s brother Nicky B wrote on Instagram “So I know that things are a bit crazy right now but my brother needs blood badly as he has a rare autoimmune disease and his blood count is extremely low at this point. Any and every donation would be greatly appreciated.”
T’Jean Bennett acquired most of his knowledge from his award-winning father at the Grafton Studio. He explored several avenues of music production, engineering, singing and song writing. The singer collaborated on many projects including Energy with Chronic Law, Never Fail I Yet with Squash and Prayer with Tarrus Riley. The singer also released successful singles such as Dry Bones and Brainwash two years ago.
