Rygin King Reflects On Dancehall Career In New Video, ‘Me, Myself and I’: Watch
It seems Rygin King has been using his ‘downtime’ during government-imposed quarantine, implemented to curb the spread of COVID-19, to reflect on his Dancehall career and journey. The artiste’s latest single, Me, Myself and I, is reminiscent of his rise to fame and investment in his career and the Dancehall industry.
Me, Myself and I, produced by Damage Musiq, is a testament to Rygin King’s perseverance throughout his career and an ode to himself in recognition of the hard work he dedicated to his talent, repertoire of music and the steady to rapid incline of his career and popularity.
In the music video for this new single, Rygin King, 25, appears to be interacting with a version of himself from the past, seemingly grooming him for imminent success. The video is punctuated by old footage of the artiste in studio during the earlier stage of his career, and his famous breakthrough performance at the 2018 staging of Reggae Sumfest in his hometown of Montego Bay.
The video, directed by Damaniac Visualz, has racked up 212,000 views since its release on YouTube three days ago.
The release of the motivational Me, Myself and I comes a time of disparity in Dancehall indicated by online beef between several renowned artistes in the industry namely Vybz Kartel and Alkaline, Vybz Kartel and Aidonia, Vybz Kartel and Beenie Man, and Popcaan and Dancehall producer NotNice. The single inadvertently separates Rygin King from the brewing animosity with its message of self-motivation and unwavering determination.
Rygin King, who is known for hits like Tuff, Powerful and How Me Grow, has recently emerged from hot water with the Jamaican government and public after displaying obnoxious behavior towards airport officials and more stringent screening measures upon arriving at the Sangster’s International Airport in Montego Bay after an interrupted tour in Europe amidst the COVID-19 crisis in March.
The artiste apologized soon after, blaming his outburst on exhaustion from his lengthy trip. He was subsequently ordered by the government to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.
