Elephant Man Intensifies Damage Control With Release Of ‘Quarantine’ Track
It would appear the Energy God, Elephant man is trying his utmost best, to do maximum damage control in light of his COVID-19 immigration breach court battle.
The artiste, whose real name is Oneil Bryan, was charged for breaches of the Immigration Act in March, after allegedly making a false declaration about the countries he had visited during his European tour, upon his arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston,.
In his apparent bid to mitigate his case, several days ago, the artiste released a song dubbed Quarantine, which he is promoting ardently on social media, and which is set to the beat of his own The Bombing track which he released in 2001, following the World Trade Centre catastrophe in the United States.
In the intro which starts off as an excerpt from a news cast, the narrator is heard urging people to stay away from crowds and to practice physical distancing, following which Elephant Man chants: “Everybody fraid fi fly through Corona, nobaddy naw guh outside through Corona; Christian a testify through Corona”.
Elephant Man addresses a multiplicity of current news events in the song which lasts for just under two and a half minutes, including the fact that he does not trust the COVID-19 vaccines which are being proposed by health officials.
He also mentioned the death of Jodian Fearon, the 24 year old woman who died after giving birth at the Spanish Town Hospital, a situation which triggered a national outcry and subsequent instructions by the Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness to the police, to undertake a criminal investigation into the matter.
Implicit in the song is a word of caution to people not to make the same mistake he had made which got him in trouble with law enforcers, and resulted in the Prime Minister implying that he was a weak link in Jamaica COVID prevention efforts.
“Onnu betta listen di advisor, Ministry of Health or the health organizer dem yah time yah. Tan inna oonu yard,” Elephant Man sings.
The artiste came under national fire after a voice note from an immigration officer surfaced on social media in which he was accused of disobeying instructions of the immigration officials and hurling abuses at them, before storming out of the airport with his entourage.
The 44 year old, who is famous for hits such as Pon di River, Pon di Bank; Signal Di Plane, Willie Bounce and d was allegedly outed as having visited Germany, by his compatriot Rygin King, who was on the same flight from Germany as Elephant Man, and who had questioned why he was being detained by health officials while Elephant Man was made to go free.
After two hearings Elephant Man is now set to reappear in court on September 4.
