Bounty Killer has taken up for his fellow veteran Dancehall artiste, Ninjaman who is incarcerated for murder.  Bounty, in an Instagram post yesterday, refuted the insinuation that Ninjaman is need of help and is not being supported.

He shared a photo “in happier times with the hardcore dancehall messiah” and said, “I hear some ppl talking crap. This man nuh need unuh help ninja have enuff kids and grandkids musically or biologically to assist in whatever ways. He was the first top deejay to collaborate with me on Cob Scout with no hesitation my Don that despite whatever the needs I’m here indeed blessings goes out.”

Bounty’s salute to Ninjaman, whose real name is Desmond John Ballentine, was apparently prompted after videos by deejay Ragga Ruggy, also known as Flitters Boss began circulating earlier this month on the social media platform.  On Flitters’ Instagram, videos were posted in which he appealed for help for Ninjaman who was sentenced in 2017 to life in prison for the 2009 murder of Ricardo Johnson.

In the first video, Flitters claims that no one remembers the contribution that Ninjaman gave to his community while he was a free man and that now that he needs help no one is listening. He also calls for Ninjaman to be freed. “Member Ninjaman, man member the gorgon. Stop fight against real people brother,” he says in the first video which was posted yesterday (May 12th).

In a second video he makes a similar appeal for Ninjaman to be freed to continue to do “his great work.”

Most fans agreed with Bounty’s statement but there were some who questioned if the deejay was having a tough time in prison. This fan said: “I heard the man dem a prison a deal wid him a way star …can’t promise man a prison tings and when u return u neva gi dem package …hope the DJ survive, heard they beating the s@#t outta him in deh !?!?!?!.”

Most fans though applauded Bounty for his stance like this fan who said: “I respect the level of loyalty and commitment. Dancehall General,” and this one who added: “You both are my artist in all genre of music.”

Ninjaman, 54, will be eligible for parole after serving 25 years.
