Denyque Hints At ‘Supergirl Vol II’ Comeback!
Jamaican songstress Denyque has hinted that she’s now ready to return to her music career.
Her story earlier this year about a near-death experience while giving birth to her daughter captured the hearts of fans as Denyque spared no details about the traumatic experience that led to doctors making the life-changing decision to remove her uterus to save her life.
Now, she says ready to take on the music business again, having taken four years off to focus on herself and her family.
In a lengthy heartwarming Instagram post today, the 31-year-old said, “this time I’m not starting from scratch… I’m starting from experience”. The artiste noted that her career path had been a very organic one where growth is concerned, but now she’s ready to trust the process unfolding differently than before.
“I’ve never had investors/ backers, I had one manager who did her best, and I had myself. In 2016 I decided to take a break and focus on ME, my personal growth, other aspects of life,” she said.
Denyque, whose real name is Denyque Welds Mullings, noted that for six years before taking a break, she had a tunnel vision on her musical career, which led to doors being opened to a career in TV/Film. “I was going non-stop, until I realized I really needed to take a step back.”
She references her “ballsy” move to enter a pageant and making the Top 12 during this time as she focused on her own self-development.
Denyque has been a favorite with hits like Proud Wifey, and Make Me Believe .
Over the last four years, she married Careem Mullings and became a mother to a son and daughter. For her, these stretches of growth while quite the feat have tested her. The I Miss You singer said, “I’ve been self-managing for the last four years, during which I married my best friend and popped out two tiny people; my career’s still vibing well, I evolved into a lifestyle brand + I got mad closer to God- closer than ever before – really tapped into my spirituality and now I’m absolutely ready to STOP second-guessing myself and stop waiting for only God knows what.”
New music might be coming from the Supergirl singer who teased that she would be making a ‘Volume 2’ comeback! She noted, “I’ve always been a dreamer, but this time, it’s different. I’m not focused on timing anymore and how fast I need to get ‘there’. I’m more patient and understanding of the fact that what is for me Can Never & Will Never Miss Me. I truly believe that you can’t ever know what you’re capable of until you give your everything, and because I haven’t done that yet, it’d be unfair to move on. So here’s to IAMSUPERGIRL Vol II”.
Meanwhile, many warm wishes were sent to her from artiste Naomi Cowan who replied, “sooooo excited for this! Seriously we need you out here,” while Voice Winner Tessanne Chin replied, “so inspiring”.
Jamaican beauty queen Yendi replied, “here for ALL of this!!!”.
Meanwhile, she teased a new ‘viral’ video for Let Me Go, which is coming soon. We’re waiting for great things from her.
