TeeJay Stays Positive With Konshens & Kemar Highcon At Digicel Unplugged: The Dancehall Edition
Digicel Unplugged hosted their star-studded Dancehall Edition over the weekend, Sunday, June 7th, with an elite selection of dancehall artistes. Headliners Konshens, TeeJay, and Kemar Highcon performed in the 2-hour segment with the backings of a live band in Digicel’s bi-weekly presentation.
The event was streamed live on the D’Music app, and Digicel’s Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram pages (@digiceljamaica), viewers can log on every second Sunday at 6 pm for the next series of musical editions.
The strategic line-up of deejays brought the show to exciting heights, first to perform was Kemar Highcon, donned in the most eclectic fashioned pants and a white long-sleeve poet shirt, crooning viewers with his singles Guard, Come For Me, Sharp, Skin to Skin, Talk Bout and his popular So Saucy.

Thirty-minutes in and The Up Top Boss graced the stage, with a touching and heartfelt first segment, he sang his singles Gangster Prayer, From Rags to Riches, and Day One. As the band charged up the acoustics, he kicked things up a notch for a few singles dedicated to the ladies, Attention, and Unfaithful Games .
Then followed an invigorating delivery for Up Top Boss and Shub Out, here TeeJay took the time to pay homage to loved ones lost, he said, “Big up mi fren dem weh pass on, we know di ting, gwaan rest up seen. But yuh see fi di rest of 2020, we a try stay positive, we a try stay focus, nuh bwoy cya drain mi energy.”
TeeJay recently lost two very close friends. According to sources on June 4th there was a roadside shooting in Kingston, St. Andrew that took the lives of Romario Wallen, otherwise called ‘Grimmy Boss’ and Phillip Lewis, also known as ‘Afro Man’, which happened to have been Teejay’s longtime comrades.
Despite his loss, TeeJay gave audiences a great show and even built a vibe with his band members, who clearly enjoyed strumming up their instruments to his songs.
The show ended with the ladies man himself Konshens, looking a little more laid back in denim long sleeve shirt and matching pants than his last live show faux pas at the For Mothers & Others, Mother’s Day event held last month. Fans brutally roasted the deejay after pictures surfaced online with him wearing a close-fitting work suit (with no undershirt) and ‘Jesus’ sandals at the event.
Appearing quite relaxed, he delved right into his performance with his single Drink and Rave, then proceeded with Bad Gal, Pretty Devil, Last Drink, and Good Girl Gone Bad. The shirt came off, and the deejay pumped up the vibe with his more upbeat singles like Wine Inna Yuh Hole, Sexin, Gal Dem Sugar, among others.
