Lisa Hyper Throws Shade At Jodi Couture: ‘There Can’t Be Two Gaza First Lady’
If you should ever have ambitions of joining Vybz Kartel’s Gaza Empire, ensure that you fall in the good graces of founding member Lisa Hyper, but more importantly, the mother of three of his children, Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson.
The criteria was publicised during a recent Instagram Live with Hyper and selector DJ Lava, where a fan enquired about the real “first lady” of the Portmore Empire camp. Picked up by DJ Lava, the fan’s question stemmed from rapper Jodi Couture using the “Gaza First Lady” title in her Instagram bio in 2019.
“There can’t be two first lady, just pree it logically speaking,” Hyper responded. “Inna every organisation there’s a hierarchy, there can’t be two first lady. I am the, and one and only first lady no matter who come and go…”
She added, “Nothing nuh Couture bout Jodi zeen, mi seh it already and mi a go seh it again so weh mi want unno do is when the females dem come unno love dem fi who dem is and stop compare dem to other females. Me cya be a Shenseea and a Shenseea cya be me. Mi cya be Spice, Spice cya be Lisa…unno accept and love the different females dem fi who dem is and stop compare them wid mi cause unno just a go cause dem fi get disrespect.”
The shade thrown at Couture, who has had numerous collaborations with Kartel including Sky Map , Backshot, and Never Walk Alone , did not go unnoticed by DJ Lava, who sought to clarify if there was any bad blood between the two.
“Mi nuh go roun and have up people. I don’t have a problem with nobody, anybody weh yuh see it look like mi have a problem wid a dem did have a problem wid mi first,” she said. “Mi just nuh want nobody size up themselves wid mi. Just show respect and mi will show respect cause a Sagittarian mirror you so you get weh you give.”
But the selector wasn’t satisfied with her response, which gave way for the Gaza insight.
“Mi seh some a dem a size up themselves. Once dem show respect mi will show dem back respect… When yuh hear mi tell dem seh leave it alone, when yuh see mi and Adi go at it, we a go just go at it. There’s no ending to me and Adidja Palmer, no ending to me and Vybz Kartel. From mi a five mi know him, unno leave it alone. So if unno a come and get unno buss unno come and get unno buss. Shorty did seh one time seh bi–hes come and go and yuh see if mi nuh like yuh and Shorty nuh like yuh, yuh nuh safe… especially if Shorty nuh like yuh cause a she a di boss…yuh nah go mek it pon the Gaza.”
Couture caught wind of the discussion and responded in an expletive-laced Live.
‘Yuh nuh see seh mi tek di buss and gone? Yuh nuh see seh mi a mind mi business?” Couture asked as she blasted both personalities for mentioning her.
“It’s all over a man, like you mad about a man?” she asked.
Despite her fiery response, the rapper said she would not create false narratives about Hyper, whom she claims to have no personal history with.
“If I don’t know somebody I won’t mention them. I don’t even know you, how do you talk about somebody that dont know you? That’s scary.”
