Listen: EastSyde Pays Homage To Pop Smoke With Skillibeng Remix Of ‘Dior’
If you’re a fan of both dancehall artiste Skillibeng and the late Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke, then you’re in for a treat.
EastSyde Records has paid homage to Smoke with an exciting remix of his highly prized single Dior with arguably their most elite artiste, the skilful, Mr. Universe .
The remix was released by the Jamaican record label yesterday, Friday, July 3, via YouTube, the same day Pop Smoke’s posthumous debut album, Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon , was released. The album comes just five months after the death of the 20-year-old rapper, who was gunned down during a home invasion.
As can imagine, the remix is an intriguing mixing of vocals, Smoke’s stealthy tones alongside Skilli’s slick tenors are simply scorching.
The intro launches the EastSyde recruit into dropping some bawdy verses:
“Bare shot a f–k dem up. In a di club after mi buss dem skull, bare a gyal a run mi dung/ She s–k mi d–k fi Dolce & Gabbana/ She make me f—k her friend for Fashionova….” The flow hands over to meet the rappers original chorus for a continuous fusion of hip-hop and dancehall rhythms. While Anthoneek Wilson added, “ Then tf skilli Suh bad this man a alien,” and another fan King jay simply couldn’t get enough, he said, “About seven time mi listen to d song yo skillibeng mi artist always spit lyrics.”
