Sikka Rymes Bares His Cross In Emotional Video For ‘I’m Only Human’: Watch
The protégé of Vybz Kartel, Sikka Rymes has released a new single called I’m Only Human. In the song, Rymes laments on the struggles he faces in life, as well as the struggles faced by low and no-income families.
One notably powerful line in the song states that “Mama son drop out early, But she hafi deh inah di town a hustle fi di grand pikini.”
The artiste can be seen carrying a wooden cross along a dirt road through a cane field. This is a very powerfully symbolic analogy to the story of Jesus who carried his cross to his execution. There are various clips shown throughout the music video which are used to strengthen the message of the song such as a little girl skipping in the cane field to even bounded slaves. The cane field is also a symbolic reference to the sugar plantations of old.
I’m Only Human, produced by DJ Lux Records on the Testimony riddim, is eerily memorable. The catchy chorus encourages us to take a trip with the Punching Bag singer as he speaks about the struggles of the residents of the ghetto.
“Please don’t judge me wrong. I’m only human
No one is perfect, but still, I do as I can
So please don’t judge me. I’m only human
No one is perfect, but still, I do as I can”
The calmness of the song is strategically used by Sikka Rymes and his producers to encourage us to listen to his words and even to feel the emotions that he relays to us.
I’m Only Human definitely has all the makings of a hit record for the GAZA VP. Watch below.
