Reggae/Dancehall star Shaggy performed his hit single Angel alongside Rayvon at the annual Essence Festival of Culture which was held virtually this year.

The festival raises funds that are used towards black businesses and communities in the United States. It features a range of activities related to music, health, discussions around politics, mental health, and other things affecting black communities in the United States.

Shaggy, who is also a major philanthropist, has raised millions of dollars through his Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation and his Shaggy and Friends Concert held annually in Jamaica. The funds from his shows have gone towards the Bustamante Hospital for Children in recent years.

He’s seen well color coordinated while Rayvon takes no chances, wearing his mask and slipping it off right before performing.

Angel was the 17th most successful song of 2001 in the U.S, selling 1,494,000 digital copies in the US as of April 2016. It’s one of Shaggy’s bestselling songs of all time, almost as successful as It Wasn’t Me.

The song also reached number one in the United Kingdom, as well as number one in Australia, making it an international chart-topper.

The Festival runs from June 25-28 and July 2-5 – two weekends of back to back music, entertainment, empowerment, and culture, the magazine says.

Shaggy’s remake of his classic Hot Shot album, now called Hot Shot 2020, will be released on July 10 and will feature two new songs, including a new version of Angel, titled Angel (Hot Shot 2020) featuring Sting.

The remake of the multi-Platinum studio album commemorates its 20th anniversary.
