Feluké Renews Pleas For Help In His Fight Against Colon Cancer
For the past six years, Jamaican singer-musician Denver Feluké Smith has been battling Stage 4 colon cancer and is struggling to deal with the expenses associated with treatment.
Two days ago, the creative made several pleas for assistance in a live on his Instagram page, detailing his needs and how he has been coping.
Feluke was first diagnosed with the disease in 2014 and in September of 2017 a benefit concert, supported by the local and international music fraternity called ‘ The Healing’ was held. The aim was to use the funds raised to cover the cost of low-dose radiation, ITP chemotherapy, alternative forms of cancer treatment and diet changes in Mexico.

The drummer extraordinaire had aggressive cancer treatment in October 2017 in Mexico and in September 2018, the artiste launched his seven track EP –Insight, which, in essence, was a celebration of his spiritual renewal.
But things took a turn for the worst in November 2019 and he began to experience bleeding complications which worsened in the subsequent months. Doctors discovered a Colorectal Tumor protruding to his bladder and as the tumor grows, it outgrows its blood supply, causing Feluké to lose a lot of blood, which then drops his blood count too low and increases a need for blood transfusion.
The percussionist had a surgical procedure done in December 2019 and March 2020, but now his Kidneys are presently blocked, causing renal failure.
According to his GoFundMe Page, which has so far raised $2860 of a $25,000 goal, doctors are unable to identify what is blocking kidneys with a CT Scan because of the state of his kidney functions.
The Artiste is said to now be wearing a left nephrostomy tube, and doctors now want to put another one on the right side.
Feluké is now seeking to return to Mexico for another round of treatment as the pain he undergoes daily is excruciating and the medication he needs are not available in Jamaica.
“This center in Mexico combines both traditional therapies as well as options not available in other countries. We are asking for help to Get Feluké to Mexico! We need your help to raise funds for Treatment, Travel, Accommodations and Expenses. Any amount you can contribute would mean the world to Feluke and his family. We thank you from the bottom for our hearts for all your love and support” the message read
