Lisa Mercedez Is Elated With Kartel Highlight Of Her ‘Full Verse’ After Foota Hype Confrontation
Lisa Mercedez is a happier woman after Vybz Kartel made a now-deleted Instagram post about the supposed full verse that she was supposed to have sung in one of the tracks on his Of Dons & Divas album.
The UK-based dancehall artiste was the brunt of veteran music selector Foota Hype’s ridicule last week during his live review of Kartel’s album on his Gallis Wednesdays show after he played State Evidence and the track dubbed Worldboss, on which she was featured.
Foota had said Mercedez’ contribution to the songs was not only insignificant, but that she ought to be embarrassed that she was not even given a verse on any of them, but was limited to ad-libs, unlike upcoming female artiste Dani Boo who featured extensively on the album’s title track. He also said she ought not to be bragging that she was Kartel’s woman or had collabs with him, as ad-libs do not qualify as collaborations.
But in his post, Kartel captioned wrote the caption: “The verse is there and it’s coming with a surprise,” to which Mercedez replied: “Worldboss #itscoming” and he, in turn, retorted: “@lisamercedes #demdead #worldboss 2.0”
In the video, Mercedez is heard singing: “Time get hard, real man hard fi fine, Das why a Vybz Kartel mi seh”
However, the post was soon-after deleted, but not before a now-appeased Mercedez screenshot it and posted it on her Facebook page, and again captioned it: #worldboss 2.0 @vybzkartel @redboomsupamix it’s coming.
On Wednesday night Foota had also said scolded Mercedez and fellow artiste Jodi Couture and labeled them ‘yamheads’, for making fools of themselves over Vybz Kartel, by claiming to be his number one woman when the incarcerated artiste does not even ‘rate’ them. He said while they were making a fuss over Kartel, his common-law-wife, Shorty was lining her pockets with the money the album was making.
Two days later, Foota Hype and Lisa Mercedez squared off on his IG Live where she, among other things, contended that she had publishing rights, her ‘PR tun up’, and that she was not ‘warring’ over the Worl’ Boss, as all she did was to claim him as her man. She said she took umbrage to Foota’s comments that he would send poison to her personal chef if she kept claiming she was Kartel’s main squeeze.
“Mi come out an mi claim di man and seh is mi man. Dat a nuh war, dat a claim,” an upset Lisa told Foota, to which he retorted: “Yuh still nuh look like you a mek sense, caw you a caim a man weh obviously a claim a different woman… You are coming at a tracing temperature. Cool down. I said all who a war, is just warring to put money in Shorty pocket.”
When Mercedez declared to Foota that her verse was to be used in another song and that controversy surrounding the album was none of his business, the Calabar High School old boy everything Kartel-related is of public interest, including the romantic relations aspect, which was brought into the public domain by her.
“You all made it public…. Mi know everything weh a gwaan… Mi know from all a di jail call dem; all a di video call dem; mi know when yuh a guh voice an everything caw Kartel nuh really loyal to nuhbaddy, so mi know everything,” Foota said.
Foota also said the manner in which Mercedez was behaving now, was uncharacteristic of the person he knew.
“The way you are acting now, is not appropriate to who me know you to be… Now I’ve never known you to be dat type a person weh carry yuh personal business pon social media or entertainment platform. Di Lisa weh me know, nuh even too chat. Di Lisa weh me know, just look pretty and look sexy and post har picture dem and sing har song dem,” Foota admonished.
“Suh probably yuh fren dem roun yuh a tell you seh a good ting yuh a duh, or people inna yuh circle a tell you seh a good ting yuh a duh. But me a look pon di outside, yuh nuh owe me o obligation and mi nu owe you none, so I am free to speak as I see it without a fear she Lisa nah guh chat tuh mi, or if Lisa a gu vex,.” he added.
