Trinidad Dancehall Artiste Playboy Gyasi, Woman Arrested After Traffic Stop

Police in Trinidad yesterday arrested a dancehall artiste for two offenses including resisting arrest and using obscene language. Some local media reports indicate that the artiste is Playboy Gyasi.

His female companion was also arrested for driving a motor vehicle without a driver’s permit, according to a report by Alert T&T.

Gyasi Webster is well known for his hit song Do what you wanna do .

The incident reportedly took place in the San Juan area and Webster who is from Second Caledonia, Morvant, was held during a routine roadblock along Lady Young Road in Morvant.

Further reports indicate that he was in the front passenger seat at the time of the arrest. The female driver was arrested and charged after she could not produce her permit and insurance information when asked by the police. Police reports later indicated that she was never issued a license in the country.

While police were attempting to detain her it appears the artiste became agitated and cursed at the officers.

Another report said that he was warned but he kept cursing and he was eventually arrested by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force. They also allege that he tried to resist arrest and so he ended up with the two charges.
