Tommy Lee Sparta Rushed To Hospital
The embattled dancehall entertainer Tommy Lee Sparta had to be immediately transported to the Cornwall Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 16, 2020. The artiste was feeling nauseous while in custody.
Ernest Smith, Sparta’s legal aid, confirmed the developments and told the Jamaica Observer in an interview that the Blessings artiste was taken into medical care for examination and, subsequently, discharged.
“He was taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital for treatment and subsequently, discharged,” Ernest said.
Tommy Lee Sparta, the given name is Leroy Russell, was heavily sought after and was asked to make immediate contact with St. James authorities at the Freeport Police station in Montego Bay, following allegations that he may have knowledge about the spike in crime and violence in the parish.
Sparta will now spend his second weekend behind bars at the Freeport Police Station in Montego Bay.
Despite the lack of empirical evidence to prove that Tommy Lee is engaged in any illicit activities, Ernest is compelled to believe that the authorities are deliberately detaining the musician.
“They [the police] told me the final session was this morning at 7:00 am. The question-and-answer session took place…I was advised by the senior officer that: ‘That’s it! The police have no further interest in him’ and that he would be released today [yesterday],” said Smith.
“They are punishing Mr Russell without just cause,” he continued.
In the past years, Tommy Lee was listed as a person of interest in a series of police investigations.
