Danny Vengeance AKA ‘The Baker’ Claims Mavado ‘Stole His Top Shotta Song’
Dancehall rookie and internet sensation Danny Vengeance, aka ‘The Baker’ has claimed that Mavado stole his ‘top shotta’ song.
Danny Vengeance, whose real name is Donovon Stewart, is a budding Jamaican deejay, who shot to fame late last year for his heroic actions in combating a gunman who attempted to rob him in Miami. He coined the term ‘baking it’ to describe the way he shot and subsequently killed the robber. The incident made him a household name, and he was widely celebrated on social media, which ultimately motivated him to launch a music career as a Dancehall deejay and hence inspired his stage name, ‘The Baker’.
Veteran deejay Mavado helped to promote Danny’s career by featuring him on the intro for his single Top Shotta Is Back in December, which has racked up over 4 million views on YouTube on the Aircraft Riddim by Chimney Records.
A short time later, in February 2020, Danny dropped a track of his own, The Baker with Franz Capone, but it didn’t quite click with audiences. Neither has his career it seems, we haven’t heard anything from the Dancehall newcomer since.
Well, except until yesterday, when he made a pretty audacious claim about the Gully Gad.
Danny posted a heated message on Instagram, referring to Mavado as ‘Mafraudo’ and accused him of stealing his song, “Top Shotta” and his ‘credits,’ while tagging Chimney Records, who produced Top Shotta Is Back, and DJ Khaled, head of We The Best Music Group where Mavado is signed, as a means of airing his claims.
“Mafraudo You Stole My Top Shotta Song, @jordanchimney @chimneyrecords @djkhaled @mavadogully you ran off with all my credits and didn’t give me nothing,” he said.
He also referenced Mavado’s alleged double-dealings with Canadian rapper, Drake, and added a funny spoof poking fun on the MVP boss. “You Rob Drake Money $25000, you f–king with the wrong people, You Can’t show your face back to Jamaica alive but your body will”
There’s no telling if Danny’s assertions have any bearing, especially given the timing that he chose to bring his story forward.
While he did promise a “live to expose you,” fans are not convinced.
One fan replied in the comments, “Clout chasing is getting out of hand this .. lies lies lies .. feel like yah badman now cause yuh guh viral fi self defense wit license gun 😂😂😂 guh back inna yuh van a sym”
“Suh guh live nuh clown 🤡 kmt u gwaan wid a crime ova foreign u feel nobody fraid a u? Bout thief u song 😂 yaah BBC artist?,” said one user.
“You just a big up Mavado the other day bow this it’s like yuh get pay,” added another.
