Shenseea Endorses MP Lisa Hanna Campaign With Remix Of ‘Trending Gyal’
As the political campaigns are heating up in Jamaica, the Opposition People’s National Party’s (PNP) candidate and Member of Parliament for South East St Ann, Lisa Hanna, is hoping to capture more supporters with an endorsement from popular Dancehall artiste Shenseea.
The former Miss World posted the Trending Gyal remix on Instagram today with the caption, “Come Tru Selecta Raaaaay #DJHannaRebel.”
The 50-second remix includes several images of Hanna in Parliament, with lyrics like, “Lisa step in every gyal haffi lock chat, can’t chat to you face only behind back” and “Lisa you nuh depend pan nobody cause you have you you money…Lisa Hanna independent gyal.”
The Blessed singer’s endorsement came at the end of the demo, where she stated: “You done know it’s your girl Shenseea representing for Lisa Hanna.”
Trending Gyal (2019) is one of Shenseea‘s biggest hits and currently has over 7 million views on YouTube. Last year, the 44-year-old MP shared a video of herself vibing to the track in a blue denim bodysuit and an orange-colored cap at a netball rally at the Claremont Transport Centre in St. Ann.
While the MP received an overwhelmingly positive response on Instagram for the campaign ad today, there were a few dissenting opinions on her Tweet of the remix.
“What is this? Lisa you are way to beautiful and classy for this. The word gyal alone. This is NOT the person we want our young adults to associate with. #disappointed,” tweeted one user.
While another tweeted, “So let me get this right. The people should vote for you because you have your own money and wear designer clothes and puff your chest a couple time, ok. Big up yourself, not the people who vote for you and put you where you are, No. Not the people whom you have sworn to serve.”
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) too has a very upbeat campaign song.

Yesterday, the Most Honorable ‘Bro Gad’ Andrew Holness arrived at Gordon House to make the announcement of the elections in his customary suit, but he complimented the outfit with a pair of green Clarks, Jamaica and Dancehall’s footwear of choice.
