Tough Going On Twitter For Vybz Kartel’s Former Lawyer

Vybz Kartel’s appeal is not the only loss that Queen’s Counsel Valerie Neita-Robinson seems to be suffering this year. With general elections just a week away, she isn’t doing so well in an ongoing Twitter battle against her political opponent Daryl Vaz either.

As the virtual campaigning rises to a fever pitch, Vaz and Robinson, who are both contesting the Portland Western seat in Parliament, were embroiled in yet another war of words yesterday.

The latest scoff between the nemeses was stirred after Robertson posted a video of Vaz, who was seemingly very irate while addressing someone off-camera on the campaign trail. Vaz shouts to the person: “All you affi do, do weh yuh haffi do pon September third… You same one down deh weh a make up the noise, because me still ago win! You can’t stop me from win!”

Robertson posted the video and said, “Now I understand why the JLP trollz are so rude and disgusting… they are following their leadership..”

Vaz was up early with his Twitter fingers, and he quoted the video and responded: “Keep sending your supporters. I will keep encouraging them to do what they have to on September 3rd. What is rude and disgusting is the way in which your people keep bombarding our campaign with confrontation, but everyone keeps missing it. Have a good day Valerie.”

She could have, and probably should have, ended it there, but the QC instead stoked the flames by tweeting back “Ohhhh sahhhh Daryl ohhhh sahhhh 😂“

Vaz shot back with “Hope as the SENIOR candidate in Portland you tweet with the same confidence on the night before like you did for Kartel’s appeal.😂“

QC, still intent on kicking the hornet’s nest, replied, “Deep breaths now Daryl, deep breaths.. inhale… now exhale,” invoking Vaz to make another Kartel jab.

He quoted her tweet, saying, “The Last man that followed your advice on this app… Still not celebrating and spending 35 to life… #AmOut.”

By this time in the squabble, Jamaican Twitter was wide awake, tuned in, and keeping score. Judging by likes, replies, and retweets, Vaz was in the lead.

Robertson tried to step up her defense, asking, “Btw where is the law suit you sent to me ?” making reference to the defamation claim that Vaz brought against her from another recent Twitter feud. Vaz, as usual, didn’t miss an opportunity to correct the attorney’s grammar.

Apparently, that was the straw that broke the QC’s back, as Robertson’s next post was clearly her crying cree.

She tweeted a screenshot of a four-month-old tweet in which Vaz had called for his support to desist from insulting Robertson on the platform. She captioned the screenshot with “All I’m saying Daryl is you need to be a little more calm and a little more consistent with the things you say.. it’s all love .”

Vaz was not so easily appeased. He shot back “Statement stands. You gave it your best. Doesn’t discredit the fact that your promises of celebration came up empty. This is all until September 3rd.”

Robertson replied: “Alright me boss make we keep it clean lol.. but if I get another video of you blowing up me haffi post it.. just chill out man. Nuh talk to the people them suh.”

Vaz gave in and said “And if your supporters want to listen, they are free to. Then they can always ask questions but disruptive shouts at our meetings are not welcomed. They can keep wearing their colours” and that was that on yet another West Portland Twitter brawl.

While the majority of Twitter users were supporting and egging on ‘clapback King’ Vaz, it is obvious that Robertson was just trying to prove a point– that Vaz is easily agitated. She started the war of words, drew him out, then held up her peace flag when she got the better of him. But it’s election season, and all is fair in love and war, is it not?

Neita Robertson’s bold display of confidence leading up to the ruling on Kartel’s appeal, only to be disappointed, has been one of Vaz’s favourite talking points during their Twitter clashes.  Vybz Kartel has since parted ways with Roberston and has obtained legal representation from Isat Buchanan in a bid to take his appeal to the UK Privy Council.
