“Scape-GOAT” Usain Bolt Reacts To Police Investigation Of Birthday Party
Jamaican Sprint King Usain Bolt has reacted to media reports of his ongoing situation with the authorities in relation to a birthday party that was held in his honor, which allegedly breached COVID-19 protocols on the island.
In social media posts on Sunday, which some believe was in reaction to a Jamaica Gleaner article about the investigation, Bolt casts himself as being a “scapegoat” in the situation that has drawn both criticism and understanding from different circles.
In the photo uploaded to both his Twitter and Instagram accounts, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist descends the steps of what appears to be a private aircraft. He writes “SCAPE- “GOAT” #CountryYutes 🙏🏿,” suggesting that the man who is considered to be one of the ‘greatest of all time’ feels unfairly persecuted.
The Gleaner article on Sunday alluded that the police should be, within a two week period, be able to conclude their investigations with the intent of providing the Director of Public Prosecutions, Paula Llewellyn, with a file to determine if there was a breach of the Quarantine Act.
Several comments below the post seem to suggest that persons understood what he was saying and were showing their support.
Commenting below the post, former Reggae Boy, Ricardo Gardner, who was also in attendance at the party, stated: “Boof in a dem head” that had two football substituting for the o’s. “Yu right! Dem a tek you fi scape goat,” said one user.
Hungrymonkpoet is quoted as saying, “the government try fi do it but dat deh na tek hold”. Another said, “Bolt them have strength for”.
The surprise party in question was held on August 21, which was Usain’s 34th birthday. It was revealed, last week, that a permit was granted by the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) for the party to take place at the Football Factory in Kingston.
Among attendees were football superstars Leon Bailey and Raheem Sterling, who had jetted in to celebrate with the multiple gold medalist.
Christopher Martin, Munga Honorebel, Ding Dong, and Ricardo “Bibi” Gardner—all of whom have a song on Bolt’s Summer 2019 Olympe Rose riddim were also in attendance.
A few days later, Bolt was confirmed to have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, although there has been no evidence to link Bolt’s contracting of the virus to the party that was held. Martin, Ding Dong and Desha Ravers revealed their negative test results following the party.
Since then, the uproar surrounding the party had died down with Raheem Sterling going on to represent England in a couple of football matches. However, this latest development is certain to get persons talking again as some have been claiming that there should be no special treatment for Bolt and his patrons’ alleged breach of protocols.
