Dancehall entertainer Dexta Daps, held two crowded concerts in Brooklyn and New Jersey this weekend. In videos posted by Daps and promoter Steelie Bashment it was a packed venue on both days.

Dexta Daps appears to have purged his Instagram of the flyer and much of the promotional material from the event however it was well documented in a New York Post article. According to the article, the venue for the Brooklyn event was undisclosed but it managed to draw hundreds of people. The article said, “footage shared to Instagram on Saturday night shows the Jamaican entertainer on stage hyping up what appeared to be hundreds of fans packed tightly at an undisclosed outdoor venue.”

The article also mentioned that Dexta Daps promoted the event on his page. The article said, “Daps also promoted the gig — which sold tickets starting at $50 — on his own Instagram page.“NYC its been a long time,” he wrote. “Sept 26 + 27 I’ll be back on stage.”

In addition to that, the entertainer didn’t follow the COVID-19 protocols outlined by the state. The article said, “under the state’s COVID-19 guidelines, outdoor entertainment-related activities are only allowed to resume at 33% capacity and with six feet of distance between people.” In addition to that, the crowd didn’t appear to wearing masks.

Dexta Daps then held a 2 pm concert on Sunday in New Jersey. According to Steelie Bashment in his Instagram stories and a now-deleted video, there were 1500 people at the venue. There are also videos of Dexta Daps promoting his event on Steelie Bashment’s story. In the story, Dexta Daps begins singing then stops and says “Who ready for dem song yah? New Jersey, bet a you, watch it, the 27th don’t diss me I’m gonna be there. It’s legit. Steelie Bashment dah one yah shot”.

There were many disapproving comments under the now deleted video showing moments from the Sunday show. The New York article however, captured some of the comments from promotional material published on Steelie Bashment’s page about the Saturday night show.

“No mask what happen [sic] to social distance have mercy on y’all soul,”  and “I will never attend any of these events because these promoters [are about] them and their money. We have to protect ourselves.” were the two comments highlighted.

This doesn’t seem to phase Dexta Daps because he posted on his Instagram that he will be in Atlanta for a concert on October 11th.
