Ding Dong Celebrates Renewed Magnum Endorsement With Virtual Birthday Party
Dancer-turned-recording artist Ding Dong is having a very eventful day, celebrating both his birthday and renewed Magnum Tonic Wine brand ambassadorship. His endorsement deal is even sweeter than before, and the leader of the Ravers crew now represents the roots wine brand across the Caribbean.
The announcement was made at his Virtual Birthday Party hosted by Magnum via IG Live, which featured performances by Tarrus Riley, the Ravers Clavers Dancers, and the birthday boy himself, ‘World Ding’.
Over 1500 users joined the session, and well wishes from many corners of the industry have been pouring in — from Usain Bolt to Jordan of Chimney Records and digital distributors, Hapilos.
With over a decade of captivating hits to his name, Ding Dong’s career hit a high in 2017, the same year he was signed to the Magnum roster. He’s been both relentless and impressive in his use of the platform since, delivering several high energy sets across the region to wide support and acclaim.
“It’s the first that Magnum has had a regional campaign of this magnitude,” AMCO Divisional Manager Glen Rogers said of Ding Dong’s 2017 performance. “In Trinidad, we are dancehall lovers just like our counterparts throughout the Caribbean. That’s what Magnum brings for Trinidad and Tobago. The energy, the vibe, and pulse of dancehall culture”.
Since then, the ‘Dancing King’ has become a household name, channeling his fancy footwork into crafty moves such as ‘Shampoo’ Lebeh Lebeh’,‘Flairy’ and ‘Fling’, in addition to appearing in family-friendly Grace Kennedy campaigns. More of a cultural ambassador at this point, Ding Dong is pleased with the trajectory his career has taken.
“I think I have brought it (dancing) to the forefront again, not just in Jamaica, but across the entire Caribbean. People are dancing to dancehall again in schools, at weddings. Even the Prime Minister is dancing, and that is something I’ve always wanted to do as a dancer, get the Prime Minister dancing,” said Ding Dong.
His celebrity friends spared no sentiments in expressing how his artistry, warmth and pioneering spirit have impacted their lives and career. ‘Sauce Boss’ Kemar Highcon said in his lengthy caption, “MY BRO ! can Say that with no hesitation My Bredda!
