Dancehall Star Agent Sasco Builds New ‘Henhouse’ For Sprinter Asafa Powell
In a show of brotherly love, dancehall star Agent Sasco took to his garage, which serves as his woodwork studio, on Saturday morning, to build a chicken coop for his friend, ‘Sub-10 King’, Asafa Powell.
The gesture came several weeks after the Olympian showed Instagram and YouTube videos of himself tending to his nine his layer chickens, in a too-tiny coop, in his yard, in early August.
Asafa and his wife Alyshia had announced at the time that they would be growing their own food, and that he was planning to “turn the entire yard into a farm” and would be working on his farming skills.
He had even shown a video of himself buying the hens from a farmer and taking them home, and collecting eggs laid by the nine chickens he had eventually bought.
The sub-10 king had said he was planning to start out with six hens and increase the numbers to about 20. However, he was told by his followers, and by Sasco, who is an accomplished carpenter, and face of Hardware and Lumber’s Modern Builder series, that he needed a bigger and better coop than the makeshift one he had constructed himself.
“Bredda wi ago need fi sort out a house fi dem. Kgn 6 style,” Sasco, who is also a highly competent farmer, had told Asafa in rising to his rescue, after seeing his chicken accommodation struggles.

The Hand inna di Air Singer, is the perfect advisor for Asafa, as he is no stranger to DIY projects, having established his own backyard farm where he grows a range of crops including bananas, peppers, plantains, and other cash crops and raises layer hens which provide him with his own fresh eggs.
Days later, when Sasco, whose given name is Jeffery Campbell, visited Asfa’s property to take measurements and find an appropriate location for the coop, he felt the brunt of Sasco’s sharp tongue and wit.
“Bredrin, yuh ucky JSPCA (Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) nuh turn up come teck weh di chicken dem,” he said in joking about the size of the Charlemont High School old boy’s small coop.
On Saturday morning, Asafa joined Sasco live on Instagram for a few minutes, with the track star cracking the jokes this time, as he watched the frame for his new coop’s construction in progress.
“When yuh tell mi you a go mek di coop mi all wash mi face all put on perfume,” Asafa joked, and later added: “Bredrin, mine yu mek mi put a bed inna it and move out pon mi wife enuh” when he saw the large size of the frames that were being assembled to make, what Sasco said was, no longer his chicken coop, but his hen house.
Sasco, who said he would show the finished structure next weekend, was hailed for his act of kindness by his own, and Asafa’s followers.
“Mi sey mi glad Asafa get di likkle help fi organise him thing, cuz mi see sey him did a try oh God!” brenda_art1 said, while Nikki McQueen added: “I was sure Jeffrey would have intervened to save the coop. Jeffrey know bout the real farm living. I love it. And Asafa mek sure yuh clean the coop with your water boots, gloves and mask and clean at least 4 to 5 times a week and top up the water bredda.”
Another fan, The Panda Experience, expressed confidence that the new coop will be a sight to behold.
“Love the Sasco link up. You know the new chicken coop ago turn up,” she said.
Since June this year, Agent Sasco has starred in Hardware and Lumber’s ‘do it yourself’ construction series dubbed ‘H&L’s RTV Modern Builder.’
Hardware and Lumber is one of Jamaica’s leading construction, agriculture, and home improvement companies. The show sees the Winning Right Now singer giving construction tips, aimed at ensuring precise measurements and cuts, reducing wastage of material, and over-exertion.
