TeeJay Ends Beef With Popcaan After Tapping His Dance Moves

Uptop Boss TeeJay celebrated his birthday with scores of well wishes from his fans and a light-humored jab from one of his foes.

The Unruly Boss Popcaan caught an Instagram clip of TeeJay’s dancing from his From Rags To Riches video and quickly remarked that the moves looked familiar. Though he’s no member of the Ravers crew, Poppy prides himself on his animated antics, seen everywhere from his IG stories to Koffee’s Lockdown visuals

Teasing TeeJay for tapping his signature steps, the Silence deejay asked “A who that Popcaan?” before answering cheekily with a laughing emoji, “Oh my bad a him son.”

While Popcaan trolled their year-long feud, the Clean Like Jesus emcee stepped things up with a heartfelt reconciliatory response.

“Done know e nuh @popcaanmusic, long time you a do this. Nuff place you put dancehall and if every young artist like me can just humble and put the ego a side and do this for dancehall things would be better. Big up self mad head MI FATHER.”

2020 has restored other friendly relations in the dancehall space, such as Shenseea and Jada Kingdom, and Spice and Lisa Hyper, and it seems Unruly Boss vs Uptop Boss has now been put to rest.

Popcaan hasn’t followed up, but whether or not he was completely blindsided by the gesture, it’s a mature move on TeeJay’s part, especially in his celebratory mode.

Their beef surrounded Popcaan’s denouncing of the popular ‘braff’ slang – made popular by Montego Bay artists TeeJay and Rygin King – and TeeJay’s old public endorsement of Unruly/Gaza/OVO adversary, Mavado

TeeJay’s comments come in the wake of continued praise and patronage for Popcaan’s reigning FIXTAPE , including from the Grammy academy and American media website Pitchfork, which described the chart-topping project as “dancehall that is aware of global trends.”

His is also a bona fide ‘rags to riches’ story, and TeeJay’s honest remarks to the hardworking hitmaker were echoed by a fan under his initial trolling comment: “bredda a u a dancehall future, u a pave the right way fi the ghetto yutes dem.”
