Even as the World Health Organisation has reported over 36 million cases of the coronavirus, with more than a million deaths worldwide, controversial dancehall artiste LA Lewis has joined the voices of some of the Maroon population of Jamaica who believe that the deadly virus is not real.

The same group, called the Nyan-Ko-Pong also believes that wearing masks are not necessary and are detrimental to one’s health. Lewis, their Secretary of State joined protestors yesterday (October 6th), in St Catherine, Jamaica, and told the media to “stop tell lie.”

He accused the media of being part of a conspiracy to make COVID-19 seem real. He accused Jamaican PM Andrew Holness of paying off the media to do the dirty work of spreading rumours about what was described as a “common flu”.

Lewis also warned that the managers of various media houses around the world could face sanctions because they were breaching human rights by saying that the coronavirus is real. His warnings extended to teachers who he claimed were paid to lock down schools in January and said they would go to jail for killing children by exposing them to 5G networks.

In Jamaica, more than 7000 cases of the virus have been recorded with at least 120 deaths so far.

During the protests, Chief Courtney, of the same tribe also said: “We intake oxygen and breathe out carbon monoxide. So when we have a mask on our face and breathing out carbon monoxide which is bad for our intake, we are damaging our kidney and other organs. This would mean that we are putting back toxins in our body and that would weaken our immune system making us unable to fight off any disease or virus. So even the common flu virus will become an issue,” he said.

Lewis insisted that his claims were justified by US President Donald Trump being diagnosed with the virus. “Trump have corona which is a flu and not the COVID-19 that they are talking about. Every breathing thing can get corona because even goat sneeze, which shows that animals can contract a cold or flu,” he said.

Twitter users had a lot to say about Lewis’ actions as his name was trending in Jamaica today.  Reactions below.
