Shenseea Shows Musical Chops With ‘Dance Monkey’ Rendition
Shenseea can seemingly do no wrong and her attempt at a cover of the Tones and I hit song Dance Monkey basically confirms just that.
In a video she uploaded to her Instagram, the Shenyeng boss showcased to her millions of followers that she has that sort of singing ability and is not just limited to her deejaying prowess.
She sings just a few lines of the opening verse but does it well enough to draw praise from persons who commented under the post.
Reggae crooner Romain Virgo was seemingly impressed as he commented “Sing girl Sing!!!!” while dropping some fire emojis. Fellow female artiste Ce’cile joined in with “seee me singa ya (fire emojis) hold dem singerrrrrrrr”.
Hip-hop artiste Lil Mama also dropped a comment praising her singing skills “you sound great singing this song Shen” to which Shenseea replied “thank you ma”. Stefflon Don commented, “yea you got to do song like this” to which Shenseea replied “thinking about it”.

However, for Shenseea, her attempt at the song also served another purpose as it cleared up some misconceptions she had about the lines of the song. In fact, in captioning the post, she highlighted that particular point.“Who knows Dance Monkey. I love this song but I’m just just looking up the lyrics, can you imagine how much fxckry I used to sing when it comes on” she said jokingly.
However, this too drew a lot of comments with Alyanna.banana agreeing that “a pure fxckry mi did a sing, ntn like wah u just sing. Chinee commented “All when me read the lyrics a pure fxckry me still a sing” to which Shenseea replied that she had to keep focused on the lyrics for fear of missing words too.
Since she uploaded it she has been lauded for her singing talent which was evident in her latest hit Lighter where she sang the hook to great acclaim and which became a challenge as persons sought to mimic her skills.
Dance Monkey by Tones and I has racked up 1.3 billion views on YouTube since its release in 2019, and spent 47 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart where it peaked at No. 2.
