Dalton Harris Comes Out As Pansexual
After years of being labeled homosexual by Jamaicans, singer Dalton Harris has announced that he is pansexual.
The British-based performer, who has been rather open on Twitter this week, posted the official flag of pansexuals on his account earlier today.
“I am who I am,” he said in one of several posts.
Simply put, a pansexual is someone who is (emotionally and/or physically) attracted to all genders. His big reveal comes a day after he made it public that he is changing his life.
In a letter posted to his Instagram page, Harris thanked the well-wishers and said he will be sharing more as his journey continues.
“Thank you for everything,” he started. “I am growing. Opinions don’t matter anymore, but you are welcomed to wasting yours. To anyone that struggles. I will be sharing how to get help in a few days. I will take a break to focus on my recovery and healing and be with the people who love me.
“Privacy and honesty are different things and no one is entitled to ME. I will never ask for acceptance from anyone that struggles to accept me in the slightest bit. That is done and over with.”
He added, “Lastly, To the boys with fragile egos, I am a TOP to you and your girlfriend. Or non-binary partner.”
His posts reaped a mixed reaction, with some people supporting his courage, and others placing their criticisms. To the latter he said:
“FINALLY. STOP SAYING I AM WEAK LIKE A GIRL. WOMEN AREN’T WEAK. NOR AM I. I AM A MAN. VULNERABILITY IS STRENGTH AND NOT MANY “MEN” POSSESS IT.”
He added, “And lastly to those that are still attacking my sexuality, My privacy is my business and whoever enters my bedroom will get there because of how I feel about them, any of the other physical checkpoints I should meet to make anyone accept me. My life is mine to live.”
His fans agree and are sending their praises across his social media.
“You’re so brave, I’m really really proud of you,” said one user. “I hope you receive a lot of support! Live your life FREE as you deserve to be.”
“You are valid, you are beautiful and you’re strong.”
Another user said in part, “Just don’t let the people who don’t matter much, matter too much! Stay on TOP of it brother.”
There were also people shooting their shot, and others enquiring about the right pronoun(s) to use when addressing him.
Yesterday, Harris revealed he almost committed suicide this week, and gave thanks to a recent ex for seemingly helping him to reach a point of enlightenment on how he should live his life.
“I want to be happy and truly smile. I ended a relationship that was the beat (best) thing that happened to me and that taught me so many things. Taught me that I am valuable and that I matter and deserve love. Thank you Ayose. I will love you forever.”
Harris is the 2018 winner of the X Factor and 2010 winner of Digicel Rising Stars.
