My signature style would be based on a fusion between old school and modern days style of playing and I’ve develop those style from Carlton Barret who played for Bob Marley and the Wailers and also Sly Dunbar is another drummer who I’ve developed my signature style from along with few modern American Drummers such as Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd, Travis Barker, Tony Royster Jr. and the list goes on.
Dancehall Magazine: what is your biggest inspiration?
Dorian: My biggest inspiration comes from my family. I was born in a musical family that sings and also plays different types of instruments, so music is naturally embedded in me. I started out on the hand drums at the age of 11, then at age of 12 I started playing on the trap (drum) set. My journey began from playing in my church, school festivals and concerts. Then those events exposed me to well-known drummers and great musicians who became my mentors and teachers in my music life. These musicians further exposed me to well-known artistes who I had the pleasure working with and giving me the greatest experiences in my musical life.
Dancehall Magazine; What has been your most memorable show to date?
Dorian: The greatest experience that I can remember was being in Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, Colorado in 2016 playing for Morgan Heritage. I was so elated and felt empowered and confident in playing and doing what I loved and I was impressed with the crowd how they were moving towards to the music. It was such a massive crowd and I’m glad that they enjoyed every bit of the performances.
Dancehall Magazine: What is your greatest aspiration?
Dorian: In my musical life I don’t say I have one goal but many. My main goals are to become one of the greatest producers of music, singer, songwriter and also a legendary drummer to the upcoming generations.
