Following the premiere of dancehall artiste Scantana’s Goodie Goodie on American radio station, HOT97, the artiste said his song has been getting plenty of buzz locally and abroad.

Earlier this week, Goodie Goodie hit the airways on HOT97 with Bobby Konders and Jabba dropping the tune which celebrates women.  Following the song’s debut, it has been picked up by several African stations in countries, such as Kenya, Ghana, Gambia and Uganda.

“Goodie Goodie was created to make women around the world feel good”, Scantana told DancehallMag, noting that the lyrics of the catchy hook highlights women of all shapes, sizes, colour and creed.

“Popular Jamaican ladies and worldwide celebrities form the subject, verb and predicate to construct the bars in a creative way,” he added.

Some of the ladies mentioned in the tune include, Winnie Harlow, Jada Kingdom, Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, our very own Lisa Hanna (Miss World 1993), Zozibini Tunzi (Miss Universe 2019), Rihanna among many others, as the artiste notes that 39 notable females were referenced.

The fun, melodic, catchy  Goodie Goodie is the first song off Scantana’s upcoming EP and joint project with producer Dale Virgo.

Scantana is most known for his Black Lives Matter viral video and his appearance in the Netflix hit series Top Boy.

Born Kibwe Lawrence, Scantana, migrated from the inner city Kingston “Tel Aviv” community to the South Bronx where he spent most of his adolescent years.

As a teen Scantana was saturated by hip-hop influences where he developed a fascination with words; adopting “The Roget’s pocket dictionary” as his best friend. Scantana wrote his first rap song at age twelve and quickly earned the respect of his peers due to his lyrical prowess.

His respect and popularity grew throughout his high school years as he scored performances with Hip-Hop/RnB acts in the likes of Foxy Brown, Tyrese Gibson, MA$E, SWV and many others.

Despite his talent, growing up in a household where drug usage and dealing went hand in hand, Scantana was predisposed to criminality.

Scantana was subsequently deported to his native Jamaica, where he again picked up his music career.

The single Goodie Goodie is available on all digital platforms.
