Chronixx delivered a stirring, soulful set at the OneYard Caribbean benefit concert.

The virtual fundraiser held last weekend featured other regional stars and was aimed at assisting in the transition to online learning platforms. The Jamaican revivalist and his Zincfence Redemption band brought melody and mystique to the Skyline Levels stage. In just under 20 minutes, fans were treated to hits, harmonies and much more, with entrancing visuals and an upful vibe.

Even remotely, Chronixx is a master of entertainment value, and his performance was both striking and engaging on several levels. The entire immersive production was on point, from the lush jungle dreamscape designed by creative visionary Nickii Kane to the moving song selections. The ambiance added flair to his acoustic renditions of Cool As The Breeze/Friday , Likes, Same Prayer and others.

Like the Spanish Town native, Chronixx’s Zincfence Redemption band was just as sharp and in tune. Assisted by percussionist Hector Lewis, Adrian Henry on bass, and Nnamdi Robinson on guitar, the group easily swept the audience into the aesthetics and fun.

No Chronixx set is complete without a musical tribute, and his cover of Bob Marley’s Concrete Jungle was as rousing as the Gong’s. Before launching in, he gave a special shoutout to those serving humanity in midst of the crisis, calling them “the light in these dark times.”

True to form, he also closed with a freestyle, flexing his lyrical prowess with lines like, “Yes ah we deh pon di top floor/ Stormy weather ye di blessings ah go pour/ Stormy weather better quickly get your act together/ Mek mi cheddar an carefully stack di mozzarella.”

November is off to a great start for Chronixx, and in addition to his philanthropic feat, he was also featured on Tidal’s Murda She Wrote Playlist for October 2020 with the RocNation contribution Another Youth .
